Buying A Home Where to Start

Where to Start

You're ready to start looking for a house?  Great!  If you plan to live in the same place for more than two or three years, buying a house is a great way to invest in your future.  Keep in mind, there are a couple of things you'll need to think through, and some experts you will want to work with.

First, you will need a steady job to ensure you have the ability to make your payments on time.

You also will want to work with a lender to get pre-qualified for a loan.  A good loan officer will ask questions about your situation and advise you on several critical things:  which loan will be best for your situation, how much can you afford to spend on a home, and what other financing options may help with your down payment or monthly payment.  It is most beneficial to work with a lender BEFORE you begin house-hunting.

And finally, you should begin saving a bit each month, to help with your downpayment and because once you own the house you will  have to pay for repairs and upkeep from time to time.
